OUR APPROACH: THE 3 C'S
With our organization’s mission in mind, we strive to provide tips for building and growing your own collection of useful, edible, and ornamental cacti.
Cactus species are beautifully resilient because of their ability to spread and reproduce via pups and rooted segments -- however, as a result of human activity, a significant amount of genetic diversity has been lost. We are committed to projects for protecting and expanding genetic diversity wherever possible.
We believe humans learn best when they are provided strategies for success. With the right resources, people become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. Learn more about Service Learning opportunities, Workshops, and our Library.
Homestead Cactus Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization started in 2017 for the protection, cultivation, and redistribution of rare and endangered cactus species. We believe that understanding, fostering, and living with these species is part of our shared cultural heritage.
In 2018 we finished our first fundraising period and currently following through with our commitment to publish our projects and build a wider audience. We also will be applying for IRS status 501(c)3 as an organization devoted to education and conservation work.
